Who is Mr. Md Lutfur Rahman?
About me
From Humble Beginnings
Early Life of Md. Lutfur Rahman
Md Lutfur Rahman was born on 1 April 1973 in Khadimpur, a small village in Bangladesh. Growing up in a community without electricity, he studied by the light of a hurricane lamp, holding onto the belief that education was the way out. His family taught him resilience and a deep work ethic — qualities that have shaped every chapter of his life
since.
In 1996, he arrived in London with just £3 in his pocket to pursue a legal education. He worked in his uncle’s restaurant by day, studied law at night, and lived in modest accommodation above the restaurant. His earnings supported his tuition and his family back in Bangladesh. During this period, he married Nahid Sultana Parvin, a fellow legal professional who shared in the early struggles. Together, they worked low-wage jobs while building toward their professional aspirations.
Pioneering a Legal Journey
A Career Built in the UK Legal System
Lutfur began his legal career at Malik & Michael Solicitors in 2002, focusing on UK immigration law. In 2003, he co-founded and directed the Universal Legal Centre, where he helped facilitate the entry of over 3,000 individuals under the sector-basedscheme introduced under Tony Blair’s government. His work was recognised by the Home Office, which designated his organisation as a panel office and a representative body for the curry industry — addressing critical labour shortages at the time.
He went on to serve as an Immigration Practitioner at C.K Solicitors (2005–2006), then practised independently through Rahman Consultancy until 2011. His later roles at SEB Solicitors (2012–2018) and Saint Martin Solicitors (2018–2024) further deepened his expertise across the full spectrum of UK immigration matters — from Skilled Worker sponsorship and ILR to judicial review and human rights.
In 2017, he was admitted as a Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx), and he later qualified as a Barrister. He is also regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) under registration F202100311.
Innovating Immigration Solutions
Building WorkPermitCloud and the WPC Group
In 2020, Lutfur founded WorkPermitCloud (WPC) to solve a problem he had seen first-hand: the immigration system was difficult for skilled workers to navigate and even harder for employers to remain compliant within. WPC was built to bridge that gap with technology, legal expertise, and ethical advice.
From WorkPermitCloud, he has grown a six-brand group, each addressing a specific need:
- WPC Lawyers – Established in 2022, an SRA-authorised Alternative Business Structure (ABS) specialising in UK immigration law. The firm advises businesses and individuals on visas, citizenship, settlement, appeals, judicial review, civil penalties, and human rights matters. It is supported by a team of IAA-regulated immigration lawyers.
- WPC Global DMCC – Launched in 2022 and headquartered in Dubai, WPC Global supports international relocation into the UK, Canada, and Europe. The team runs global conferences and outreach programmes, including events across Asia, extending the WPC presence beyond the UK.
- WPC HR – A UKVI-compliant HR platform built specifically for sponsor licence holders. It automates visa expiry monitoring, audit-ready documentation, and ongoing duties — keeping employers fully aligned with Home Office requirements.
- WPC Accountants – Established in 2024, offering payroll, bookkeeping, year-end accounts, VAT, and tax services. The team works closely with sponsor licence holders who need joined-up legal and financial compliance.
- WPC Jobs – Operating as SkilledWorkerRoute Limited, a UK employment agency connecting British employers with qualified skilled workers from across the globe.
- WPC Right to Work – A digital Right to Work checking solution that helps employers meet their statutory duties affordably. For the price of a check, businesses can avoid civil penalties of up to £60,000 per illegal worker.
The group operates from The Gherkin and Whitechapel in London, Birmingham, and Dubai, with over 95% of the workforce comprising migrants — a deliberate reflection of Lutfur’s belief in creating the opportunities he once needed himself.
Beyond his Immigration Solutions
Giving Back: Healthcare, Community, and Access to Justice
Beyond his work in the legal and business world, Lutfur dedicates significant time and resources to causes that serve the wider public.
Chairman, NRB General Hospitals Ltd – Lutfur leads NRB Hospital as its Chairman, a non-profit healthcare initiative providing high-quality medical care to patients regardless of their financial means, with a particular focus on underserved and disadvantaged communities. The charity is now formally registered (Charity No. 1216362), with over £3 million in confirmed pledges behind the project.
Founder, Existing Skilled Migrant (ESM) Forum – What began as a small support platform has grown into a community of over 9,000 members across healthcare, IT, and engineering — sectors the UK economy depends on. Through structured guidance, legal awareness, and coordinated community support, the forum helps skilled professionals understand their rights, retain their status, and continue contributing to UK public services and industry.
Pro Bono Recognition List 2026 – Lutfur is formally recognised on the Pro Bono Recognition List 2026 of England and Wales, under the patronage of The Lady Chief Justice, The Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill. The List — supported by the Law Society, the Bar Council, and CILEX — recognises legal professionals who have provided 25 hours or more of free legal assistance over the preceding year. The published List can be viewed at probonorecognitionlist.org.uk.
Recent Public Engagement
In recent months, Lutfur has been visible across both legal practice and public policy:
Immigration Lawyer of the Year 2024 – recognised for sustained contribution to UK immigration law and the businesses and families served by the WPC Group.
House of Commons address – delivered the keynote at the Asian Catering Federation’s Prestige Dinner, speaking on the impact of recent immigration policy on the UK hospitality sector and the retrospective extension of settlement qualifying periods.
Judicial review proceedings – actively engaged in a judicial review matter against the Home Office concerning sponsor licence decision-making, following an earlier consent order.
Public education – producing immigration vlogs and social media content explaining sponsor licence compliance, supplementary employment, and other technical areas in plain English for employers and migrants.
